The Australian High Commission continue to offer limited notarial services for urgent matters only during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Visiting our offices during COVID-19
In line with the current social distancing requirements, please note that only one person at a time will be allowed access into the High Commission until further notice
- You must have an appointment to visit our offices.
- If you have a fever, cough or any COVID-19 symptoms, please reschedule your appointment. Please do not attend our offices if you are ill or if you have had recent exposure to someone who is ill.
- Please do not bring friends or family members to your appointment.
- Please arrive as close to your appointment time as possible. Security arrangements mean you might not be allowed to enter the building prior to your appointment time.
- You must bring and wear a mask. We will ask you to remove your mask briefly to confirm your identity.
- You may be asked to wash or sanitise your hands before commencing your interview.
Please ensure that you have all instructions and documents ready when you arrive for your notarial services appointment.
What are notarial services?
Notarial services include services such as authenticating a document, certifying a copy of a document, witnessing a signature on a document or issuing a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage.

How much are notarial services?
The High Commission in governed by the Consular Fees Act 1955 and the fees charged are stipulated therein. Fees are payable at the time of appointment using a credit or debit card, Diner’s Club or American Express cards are not accepted. All payments are made in South African Rand only. Fees are reviewed monthly to reflect exchange rate variations. Current notarial fees can be accessed using the below link. Note the fees are payable per document/signature and per copy and are non-refundable.

Please note that there is no parking available on the grounds of the High Commission. There have been instances of cars being stolen in the Arcadia area where the High Commission is located. All visitors should carefully plan their visit to the High Commission and exercise vigilance.
Notarial services are only offered at the Australian High Commission in Pretoria and are strictly by appointment only. When making use of the Gautrain the Hatfield Station is the closest to the High Commission.
Honorary Consuls cannot perform any notarial services, however in some circumstances they may undertake preliminary activities to assist. Please contact your Honorary Consul or the High Commission for advice on notarial services.
